Delhi IndiBlogger Meet

It was a great idea to head for the Delhi IndiBlogger Meet. Finally, after many weekends spent just like that, a Saturday when I ventured out. The meet was scheduled at The Religare Art Gallery at the K.G. Marg in Connaught Place. Apart from having met some great bloggers (hopefully, will get to receive some pics and comments back here!), it was great to win some rocking treats from www.mydala.com  (I thought it wouldn't be fair if I enjoy the treats and not mention the sponsors!) Here is a pic of what was in the goody bag, entirely to evoke some envy! Connaught Place never fails to bring that 'Ah, I love this about Delhi!' feeling. Same old buildings though shiny now with restoration, great shops, winter days with amazing thelas selling everything from groundnuts to the piping hot tea - Ah, I love Delhi! Connaught Place is truly a 'Why Not Place?!' as the Religare Art Gallery would say...

Delhi Delhi Delhi!

I can never get tired of writing on Delhi and my love for it. An impending trip is on cards and here is a list of activities I have already figured out for myself: 1. Have to do a very important 'communication' task. More about it when it is done! :D 2. Must visit my school - The Mother's International School. You got to see it and be there to believe it. 3. Visit Time Out Store - Ambiance Mall. It is one of the most rocking new book store in the town. 4. Enjoy the chill. Sick of hot days and cool evenings in Pune. Need full blown winters! 5. Meet friends. Enjoy with them! 6. Go to Chandni Chowk/Chawri Bazaar/Connaught Place/Khan Market/South Campus/North Campus and many more places with... 7. Metro Ride! Just for the heck of it. 8. Eat lot of home food - Paranthas, Makka ki Roti aur Saag and all the winter snacks like gur aur moongfali ki chakli . 9. Enjoy home and New Year! 10. Visit the malls - why not? 11. Photography - lots of it! 12. Go to Big Chill Cafe ...

Delhi - The quintessential city!

Image Courtesy: Delhi! ‘garche hain mulq-e-dakhan mein in dinon qadr-e-sukhan kaun jaaye Zauq par dilli ki galiyaan chod kar’ - Mir Zauq These famous lines by Mir Zauq, a contemporary of Mirza Ghalib defines the quintessential nature of the city we call Delhi. Roughly translated to English, in these lines Mir Zauq is saying that although the seat of power and all the worldly comforts have shifted to the Deccan region of India but still, who can even think of leaving the by-lanes of Delhi? A true dilliwala can understand what it means. Delhi is the capital of India. Like every capital city should be – it has been painted in the colors of modernity and is a suitable representation of the growth that India has witnessed. However, unlike many cities, or cities which even weren’t cities then, Delhi has been painted in colors representing grandeur and layers and layers of them, one over the other. Delhi itself represents history. It has assimilated everyone. Mughals, Khiljis, an...

The Breeze(r) Effect!!!

Goes without saying, you need to read The Inspiration before you start on this. You may find it here . I was feeling very cranky here as it was about time to go home. It always happens this way. Nothing then is visible to me. It is just Home sweet home! So, I ended up going home a week before I actually had to. Meeting friends and family was but obvious which was apart from the main reason for going home. That meant quite a few trips to my old office where I can safely say-I have made friends for life. They are true friends and not just ex-colleagues. As it happens always, I eventually become the reason for a get together since all of them are busy with their typical IT jobs - different projects, different bays, different buildings. Anyways, a grand plan was made by about seven of us to go to Delhi [my ex-office and residence are in Gurgaon] and have some fun after their office. I was game, as always. As it turned out, recession can make ever-ready good-for-nothing ready-to-party off...

That's my Delhi...

Weird things happen to me when exams are round the corner. For a starter, when everyone is frantically reading notes which they got photo copied a day before the exam, I am doing things that I actually want to do - like writing. To avoid getting back to the books sooner, these 'other' things are done at a slow pace with full concentration to prevent words like - ' Study now at least?' from ringing from the deepest of the dark corners of the mind. Invariably, it means that these 'other' things are done well, or so I presume :) As of now, at 1917 hours on the 16 th day of the 11 th month in 2008 th year of our Lord, I am missing Delhi. Ummm , I mean NCR - though I would call it Delhi [looks more chic]. I stay in Gurgaon [a small town turned city due to IT boom and proximity to the capital]. As months of cold are taking hold, I cannot but remember those days when I was in Sixth standard. Waking up at 5:30 am [wouldn't ever imagine myself doing that now] an...
