Being the married guy

'So, how does it feel?' 'Oye hoye, shaadi shuda insaan!' 'You're married, waaaaaaoh!' 'Congrats! Your prison term begins now!' 'It must be bliss now... but wait for it my friend' No amount of italics or bold fonts can justify the knowledge, the pleasure, the displeasure and many such feelings to which I am innocent to that people express when they come to know that I am the newly married guy. I am partly to blame for that. I couldn't resist expressing my happiness and excitement to everyone and anyone I have known for 20 minutes or more. But it did not take long for me to realize that it was a grave mistake to do so in a 'connected everywhere all the time' world. You say the M word and people have all the gyaan to share with you. Like they have been married forever to know everything or if it is a kind of a cheap course that everyone has a doctorate in magna summa laude. Surprisingly, I did not know there was such a study optio...

Degree is not enough!

Residents of Gurgaon would definitely know about the electricity woes here, summers being a nightmare at times. Good old days of the city being quiet and simple are gone. It is now touted as the 'Millennium City' and the 'City of Malls'. Millennium City because it still faces the problems only heard of in Millennium B.C. and City of Malls because that is probably the only weekend getaway people can have. Anyway, coming to the point. With a recently changed electricity meter (it literally burnt up in flames) and a jugaad fixed transformer, our woes were alleviated to a small extent. And then it happened. Of all the things, the house bell stopped working. Of course we can do without a bell for some time and trust me we did too. Mom's patience with our lack of interest to get it fixed was running out. She kept saying that she would shut the door at the stairs (we live on first floor) and if anyone comes, he will go back as we would not be able to hear him! We laze ar...

The Dog in my Lane...

What the hell do they think? Moving in a pack makes them look good? A sense of self-righteousness to me, nothing else! Moving in packs and losing one's individuality isn't my way. More so, because I like doing it my way. Living my own sordid and dull life in this lane. Kids sometimes play with me, and sometimes throw stones at me. I like this type of existence. Cold is getting on to my nerves now. I won't deny that I am jealous of that stupid Pomeranian who has that stupid orange jacket on him. But would trade my neck being leashed for that warm jacket? Never. I am better off sleeping under the blanket of the chowkidaar at night. Sun, thankfully is still there to warm me on the road. That chowkidaar is an idiot of the first rate though. He sleeps so sound that he doesn't even know when I barge into his little hut which the residents (who are equally idiot to hire a chowkidaar who sleeps more sound than they do!) to put his stuff in. He even forgets to return the keys ...

Death of a Salesman...yet again!

Image Courtesy : http://digitalmirage.net/ 'Sir, it will take only two minutes' I insisted. All I got in return was a nice little smirk from the gentleman (atleast that was what I presumed him to be when I approached him). The day hadn’t been really good but it was exciting to be back in field. I was reminded of the times when I was stalking married women for my survey for a specific brand of detergent about a year ago. At times, it got dangerous, the stalking business and it was only my college ID card that came to my rescue to prove my innocence and intentions. I dreaded when I thought of what would have happened had I forgotten to carry it! It finally was time to put the Marketing Research concepts learnt in class to practice. The only problem – we were more viewed as salesmen selling credit cards and insurance rather than as diligent students pursuing research purely for academic purposes. Having reached this sweet little mall in Chinchwad to carry out our research, we wer...

Plain Irritated!

Image Courtesy:  http://devlog.mahcuz.com/ Alright, I am not used to writing just for the sake, but I guess I can do with some bitching here [last I heard, bitching still wasn't patented by girls...] So here I go, my blog - my way. I wish to go point wise: 1. I think Bangalore is way too over rated. Mumbai is much better a place for all the fun they said is there in Bangalore. 2. I hate..no wait..loathe..no..despise the auto rickshaw drivers here. Just because you speak Hindi and don't know how to speak Kannada doesn't mean your money isn't hard earned - someone tell them that. 3. People take networking as buttering and talking shit and dung in the name of networking. If that is the way it works - fine - so be it. I refuse to be a part of it. As Hugh MacLeod puts it -  If somebody in your industry is more successful than you, it's probably because he works harder at it than you do. Sure, maybe he's more inherently talented, more adept at networking etc, but I d...
